The Following are some commonly asked questions about the membership program and Periodontal Disease:

Each dental plan includes 2 healthy cleanings:

This cleaning is for patients who are usually 14 years or older and have a healthy oral state, without periodontal disease or bone loss. The procedure involves scaling and polishing to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from tooth structures above the gumline, or coronal deposits. The goal is to control local irritational factors and prevent gum loss from excessive plaque buildup.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I NEED A SPECIAL CLEANING? (I.E., DEEP CLEANINGS, SCALING AND ROOT PLANING, PERIODONTAL MAINTENANCE):

If these types of cleanings are required, we still allow the patient to join the membership program. Your 2 cleanings will convert to 2 of your 4 recommended periodontal maintenance cleanings. This will mean that any scaling and root planing or additional periodontal maintenance procedures will require an additional payment but at the membership discounted rate (25% off).

What is Scaling and Root Planing (SRP)?

Scaling and root planing, also known as conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy or deep cleaning, is a procedure involving removal of dental plaque and calculus (scaling or debridement) and then smoothing, or planing, of the (exposed) surfaces of the roots, removing cementum or dentine that is impregnated with calculus, toxins, or microorganisms,[1] the agents that cause inflammation.[2] It is a part of non-surgical periodontal therapy. This helps to establish a periodontium that is in remission of periodontal disease. Periodontal scalers and periodontal curettes are some of the tools involved.

What is Periodontal Maintenance?

Periodontal maintenance is a dental procedure that removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria from teeth and gums to help prevent or treat gum disease. It's often recommended for people after they have undergone periodontal therapy (SRP) or have a history of gum disease. These cleanings usually require follow-up periodontal probing to monitor gum health.
